"Dirty Word" search/filter in Exchange?
I hope I can get some information on this (as soon as possible) ... I'm being tasked by higher-ups with this question, even though i have little experience with Exchange Server, but here goes... Is there a way to implement a customizable "dirty word" filter in Exchange to either a) search retroactively (ie search previously sent items) or b) have a real-time filter that will either flag or intercept items as they pass through the exchange server before they hit the internet. Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

Hello Aaron, Whats your Exchange version? 2003 or 2007? For your first question: search retroactively mails, it can be carried by ExMerge in Exchange 2003 [Instructions]. In Exchange 2007, you can use cmdlet Export-mailbox. For your second question: filter some mails contain specific words, you could use Transport rule in Exchange 2007. In Exchange 2003, there is no such a feature, you may need to leverage third party software or develop a event sink. Hope this helps. Thanks, Elvis

Aplologies, I've been away from work recently. We're using Exchange Server 2003 here. The desired ability is to do a real-time filter of the emails. Do you have any leads on third-party solutions, or instructions on how to develop the event sink?

IMF with Custom Weight List helps you to implement the same or you may need to use some third party tools...
